DETAILS
It's time to experience the extreme cold from the inside – the warm confines of the Centre for Cold Ocean Research on the St. John's campus of Memorial University. C-CORE is an industry leading research and development organization with expertise in petroleum exploration, ice engineering and harsh environment technology. This unique opportunity offers the chance to experience the iceberg research that has earned Memorial the reputation as a centre of excellence in this field.
Next, we will visit Memorial's Marine Institute. This highly technologically advanced facility is home of the world largest and most sophisticated marine simulators. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the tragic sinking of the Titanic, the Marine Institute has devised a digital simulation reenactment of that fateful night. Our group will participate in the dramatic retelling of this tragic tale from a first-person perspective.
After the simulation, we will make our way to the Johnson GEO Centre. This facility hosts The Titanic Story exhibit, which houses artifacts and props from James Cameron's Academy Award winning film. The Titanic Story offers a complete account of the greed, arrogance, and bad judgment that led to the greatest peacetime tragedy of the 20th century.
This tour will require a minimum of 15 and maximum of 20 participants.
